Canton receives:
LF Orlando Valadez (24, ML) - $5.6/$5.3/$5.0
MR Travis Reynolds (33, ML) - $0.735
2B Carlós Gabaldon (25, AAA) - minor league contract
West Virginia receives:
SS George Riley (27, ML) - $8.4/$15.0/$14.5/$14.0/$13.0/$12.0
SP Ed Eubank (25, ML) - $0.38/arbitration/arbitration/arbitration
Since Then:
Valdez had solid '08 season with Canton. In 157 games, he batted .284 with 25 homeruns and 84 RBIs. As of '09, he remains with Canton and grades out as a solid hitter who is steady but not necessarily All-Star caliber.
Reynolds went 0-3 with a 5.44 ERA in 32 relief appearances with Canton in '08. He has since been traded to San Antonio (7/14/08). He signed a 1-year deal with Ciudad Acuña of the Alianza Béisbol Al Sur de la Frontera (4/30/09). Overall, he grades out as an average reliever who is on the tailend of his career.
Gabaldon has had average '08 and '09 seasons down at Canton's AAA affiliate. A utility infielder, it appears Gabaldon may not have enough talent to be a big league player.
Riley had an excellent '08 season with West Virginia. He batted .292 with 4 homeruns and 73 RBIs while scoring 89 runs himself. As of '09, Riley is one of the best hitting shortstops in PEBA and a consistent All-Star performer.
Eubank was flipped to Duluth as a part of the 4-way trade amongst Canton, Duluth, New Jersey, and West Virginia.
